The Cannes Film Festival is an internationally renowned annual festival held in Cannes, France. Films from all different genres are previewed. The festival was founded in 1946 and was originally called The International Film Festival. The goal of the festival is to promote film as art and raise awareness of new films. It is one of the top five largest film festivals, alongside the Venice Film Festival, the Berlin International Film Festival, the Toronto International Film Festival, and the Sundance Film Festival.
